Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine (or dry sherry)
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, marinate the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine, and cornstarch. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
  3. In the same wok, add a little more oil if needed. Sauté the sliced onion and minced garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add the freshly ground black pepper and stir-fry for a minute to release the aroma.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Add the cooked beef back into the wok and stir to combine with the sauce.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
