Black Pepper Cottage Cheese (Dum Paneer Kali Mirch) is a classic Mughlai dish known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This dish is made with paneer (cottage cheese) cooked in a creamy and spicy black pepper gravy, making it a perfect indulgence for special occasions.
Ingredients
- 500g paneer (cottage cheese), cut into cubes
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk the yogurt until smooth. Add black pepper powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well to make the marinade.
- Add the paneer cubes to the marinade and coat them evenly. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- In a pan, heat ghee over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another 2 minutes.
- Add the marinated paneer cubes along with the marinade to the pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring gently.
- Pour in the heavy cream and mix well. Let it simmer for 5 minutes until the gravy thickens.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
