Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup black recado paste
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the black recado paste over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, tomatoes, and bell pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in the oregano, cumin, and chicken broth. Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!
