Ingredients

  • 1 kg minced beef
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 slices of white bread, soaked in milk
  • 2 tbsp curry powder
  • 2 tbsp apricot jam
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large pan, brown the minced beef and onions.
  3. Add the curry powder, apricot jam, vinegar, raisins, and slivered almonds. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Squeeze the excess milk from the soaked bread and add it to the meat mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread it evenly.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and milk together. Pour the custard mixture over the meat.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
