Bobotie Spring Rolls
Bobotie Spring Rolls are a delicious fusion of South African and Asian cuisines, combining the flavors of traditional Bobotie with the crispy texture of spring rolls. These savory appetizers are perfect for entertaining or as a unique addition to your meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp curry powder
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup slivered almonds
- 2 slices white bread, crust removed and soaked in milk
- 12 spring roll wrappers
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a pan, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
- Add the curry powder, turmeric, raisins, and almonds to the pan. Cook for a few minutes until fragrant.
- Squeeze the excess milk from the soaked bread and add the bread to the pan. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- Place a spoonful of the bobotie mixture onto a spring roll wrapper. Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling and roll up tightly, sealing the edges with beaten egg.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the spring rolls until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the spring rolls from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve the Bobotie Spring Rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
