Bobotie Spring Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 2 slices white bread, crust removed and soaked in milk
  • 12 spring roll wrappers
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a pan, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
  2. Add the curry powder, turmeric, raisins, and almonds to the pan. Cook for a few minutes until fragrant.
  3. Squeeze the excess milk from the soaked bread and add the bread to the pan. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  4. Place a spoonful of the bobotie mixture onto a spring roll wrapper. Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling and roll up tightly, sealing the edges with beaten egg.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and fry the spring rolls until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the spring rolls from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve the Bobotie Spring Rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
