Boerewors
Boerewors is a traditional South African sausage that is perfect for a braai (barbecue) or a hearty meal. It is made with a blend of spices and minced meat, giving it a unique and delicious flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 kg beef or pork mince
- 25g coriander seeds
- 10g black pepper
- 10g nutmeg
- 15g salt
- 15g vinegar
- 15g ground cloves
- 30g beef suet or pork fat
Instructions
- Toast the coriander seeds in a dry pan until fragrant, then grind them in a mortar and pestle.
- Mix all the spices and vinegar into the meat, ensuring it is well combined.
- Feed the mixture into a sausage casing, twisting it every 15cm to form individual sausages.
- Refrigerate the sausages for at least 12 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
- Grill the boerewors over medium heat for about 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through.
