Boerewors Mac And Cheese

Ingredients
- 1 lb Boerewors sausage, casing removed
- 10 oz macaroni
- 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the Boerewors sausage over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and thickened to make a béchamel sauce.
- Stir in 1 ½ cups of the grated cheddar cheese until melted and well combined.
- Add the cooked macaroni and cooked Boerewors sausage to the cheese sauce, stirring to combine.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the Boerewors Mac and Cheese to a serving dish and sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese on top.
- Broil in the oven for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
