Ingredients
- 1.5 kg beef chuck, cut into cubes
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp sweet paprika
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 3 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 cups bread crumbs
Instructions
- Season the beef with salt, pepper, and coat with flour.
- Heat oil in a large pot and brown the beef in batches. Remove and set aside.
- Add onions to the pot and cook until softened. Add garlic, paprika, and caraway seeds, cook for 1 minute.
- Return the beef to the pot, add beef broth, tomato paste, and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
- Meanwhile, prepare the dumplings by mixing eggs, milk, and bread crumbs. Form into dumplings and cook in boiling salted water for 10 minutes.
- Once the beef is tender, adjust the seasoning and serve the guláš with the dumplings.
