Bosnian Ćevapi with Ajvar (Ćevapi s Ajvarom)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup sparkling water
  • Ajvar, for serving
  • Flatbread or pita, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground lamb, chopped onion, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add the sparkling water to the meat mixture, mixing until well combined and slightly sticky.
  3. Divide the meat mixture into equal portions and shape them into finger-length sausages, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Preheat a grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates.
  5. Grill the Ćevapi for about 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through and have a nice char on the outside.
  6. Serve the grilled Ćevapi with ajvar and flatbread or pita.
