Bosnian Lamb Kebabs (Bosanski Ražnjići)

Bosanski ražnjići, or Bosnian lamb kebabs, are a traditional Bosnian dish that is perfect for grilling and enjoying with family and friends. The combination of tender lamb and flavorful marinade makes these kebabs a delicious and satisfying meal.

Bosnian Lamb Kebabs (Bosanski Ražnjići)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs lamb, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 metal or wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the chopped onion, minced garlic, olive oil, red wine vinegar, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Add the lamb cubes to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning during grilling.
  4. Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto the skewers, distributing them evenly.
  5. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  6. Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
