Hóngshāo Niúròu Miàn is a classic dish in Tianjin Cuisine, featuring tender braised beef served over noodles in a rich and flavorful broth.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef brisket, cut into chunks
- 4 cups beef broth
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 4 slices ginger
- 2 star anise
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp Sichuan peppercorns
- 8 oz fresh noodles
- Green onions, sliced, for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the beef chunks over medium heat.
- Add the beef broth, soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, brown sugar, ginger, star anise, cinnamon sticks, and Sichuan peppercorns to the pot.
- Simmer the beef mixture over low heat for 1.5 hours, until the beef is tender.
- Cook the fresh noodles according to package instructions.
- Divide the cooked noodles into serving bowls and ladle the braised beef and broth over the noodles.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot.
