Ingredients
- 500g beef, cut into chunks
- 4 potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp five-spice powder
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the beef chunks and cook until browned on all sides.
- Add the onion and garlic to the pot, and sauté until fragrant.
- Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, and five-spice powder. Stir to coat the beef evenly.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 hours.
- Add the potatoes to the pot and continue to simmer for another 30 minutes, or until the beef and potatoes are tender.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
