Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs beef brisket, cut into chunks
- 1 cup scallions, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 3 slices ginger
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp five-spice powder
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add ginger and garlic, and stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add beef chunks to the pot and brown on all sides.
- Pour in soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sugar, and five-spice powder. Stir to coat the beef.
- Add scallions and beef broth to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot with steamed rice.
