Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs
  • 1 cup chestnuts, peeled
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 3 slices ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chicken thighs and cook until browned on both sides.
  2. Add the ginger, garlic, and green onions to the pot. Stir-fry for a minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and salt. Stir to coat the chicken evenly.
  4. Add the chicken broth and chestnuts. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
  5. Uncover the pot and continue to simmer for another 15 minutes, or until the chicken is tender and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Transfer the braised chicken with chestnuts to a serving dish. Serve hot with steamed rice.
