Braised Chicken with Soy Sauce (豆油炖鸡)

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3 slices ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the chicken thighs and brown them on both sides.
  2. Add the ginger, garlic, and green onions to the pot. Stir-fry for a minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar. Stir to coat the chicken evenly.
  4. Add water to the pot and bring it to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 hour, or until the chicken is tender.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the pot and place it on a serving dish.
  6. Turn the heat to high and reduce the sauce until it thickens. Pour the sauce over the chicken and serve hot.
