Braised Duck with Yam (芋头焖鸭)

Ingredients

  • 1 whole duck, cut into pieces
  • 500g yam, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 3 slices ginger
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Shaoxing wine
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add ginger, garlic, and scallions. Sauté until fragrant.
  2. Add duck pieces and brown on all sides.
  3. Pour in Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Stir to combine.
  4. Add yam chunks and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1.5 hours, or until duck is tender.
  5. Season with salt and adjust the flavor if needed.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!
