Braised Eel Extravaganza (红烧鳗鱼狂欢)

Ingredients

  • 500g fresh eel, cleaned and sliced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Sesame oil for drizzling

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and Shaoxing wine. Marinate the eel slices in this mixture for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat some oil in a pan and sauté the garlic, ginger, and green onions until fragrant.
  3. Add the marinated eel slices and sear until lightly browned.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cover and braise for 20 minutes.
