Braised Lamb with Soy Sauce (豆油炖羊肉)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs lamb, cut into chunks
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3 slices ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the lamb chunks and cook until browned on all sides.
  2. Add the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sugar, ginger, and garlic to the pot. Stir well to coat the lamb.
  3. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 hours, or until the lamb is tender.
  4. Add the green onions and continue to simmer for another 15 minutes.
  5. Once the lamb is tender and the sauce has thickened, remove from heat and serve hot.
