Braised Oxtail
Braised oxtail is a hearty and flavorful dish that is perfect for a cozy dinner. The tender oxtail meat is cooked low and slow, allowing it to become incredibly tender and packed with rich flavors.
Ingredients
- 3 pounds oxtail
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup red wine
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season the oxtail with salt and pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
- Add the oxtail and brown on all sides, then remove from the pot and set aside.
- Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until softened.
- Return the oxtail to the pot and add the carrots, celery, beef broth, red wine, and bay leaves.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 3 hours or until the oxtail is tender.
- Remove the bay leaves and skim off any excess fat from the surface.
- Serve the braised oxtail hot and enjoy!
