Ingredients
- 500g pork belly, cut into chunks
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 3 slices ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 dried red chilies
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Blanch the pork belly in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- In a separate pot, heat some oil and sauté the ginger, garlic, star anise, cinnamon stick, and dried red chilies until fragrant.
- Add the pork belly to the pot and stir in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and sugar.
- Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Then, reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours until the pork is tender.
- Once the pork is tender, uncover the pot and allow the sauce to thicken.
- Serve the braised pork belly hot with steamed rice and enjoy!
