Ingredients

  • 500g pork belly, cut into chunks
  • 3 slices ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, cut into sections
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Blanch the pork belly in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  2. Heat a wok or deep skillet over medium heat, add the pork belly and cook until browned.
  3. Add ginger, garlic, and green onions, stir-fry until fragrant.
  4. Add star anise, cinnamon stick, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar, stir well.
  5. Pour in water, cover, and simmer for 1.5 hours until the pork is tender.
  6. Uncover, turn up the heat to reduce the sauce until thickened.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
