Ingredients
- 500g pork ribs
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 slices of ginger
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Place the pork ribs in a large pot and add enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In the same pot, heat the soy sauce and sugar over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add the ginger, garlic, star anise, and cinnamon stick to the pot. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Return the pork ribs to the pot and add 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 45-50 minutes until the pork is tender.
- Uncover the pot and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the ribs.
- Transfer the braised pork ribs to a serving dish and serve hot.
