Branzino Allo Zafferano (sardinian Saffron-infused Sea Bass)
Branzino allo Zafferano is a traditional Sardinian dish that features tender sea bass infused with the delicate flavors of saffron. This elegant and aromatic dish is perfect for a special dinner or a festive occasion.
Ingredients
- 4 whole branzino (sea bass), cleaned and scaled
- 1 teaspoon saffron threads
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the stovetop grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- In a small bowl, crush the saffron threads with a spoon and mix with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Set aside.
- Season the inside and outside of the branzino with salt and pepper.
- Stuff each branzino with slices of lemon and minced garlic.
- Brush the outside of the fish with the saffron-infused olive oil.
- Place the branzino on the grill or skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and has a golden crust.
- Remove from heat and drizzle with the remaining saffron-infused olive oil before serving.
