Brazilian Style Sweet Chili Tofu (Tofu a la Salsa de Chile Dulce Estilo Brasileño)

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tofu by cutting it into cubes and coating each piece with cornstarch.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, rice vinegar, and brown sugar to make the sauce.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden and crispy on all sides.
  4. Push the tofu to one side of the skillet and add the garlic and ginger. Cook for a minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour the sauce over the tofu and toss to coat. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the tofu.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
