Bread Pudding (mouthwatering Double Ka Meetha)

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of bread
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/4 cup of chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of saffron strands
  • 1 tablespoon of rose water

Instructions

  1. Tear the bread slices into small pieces and set aside.
  2. In a deep pan, heat ghee and add the chopped nuts. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add the torn bread pieces to the pan and sauté until they turn crisp and golden.
  4. In a separate saucepan, heat the milk with sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron strands. Let it simmer for a few minutes.
  5. Pour the hot milk mixture over the sautéed bread in the pan. Let it soak for a few minutes.
  6. Sprinkle rose water over the bread pudding and mix gently.
  7. Cover the pan and let the bread pudding cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes until the milk is absorbed and the pudding is thickened.
  8. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.
