Brezeln (german Pretzels)

Ingredients
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp baking soda
- Coarse sea salt for topping
Instructions
- In a bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture, and knead the dough until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and roll each part into a long rope.
- Shape the dough into pretzels and dip them in the boiling water for 30 seconds.
- Place the pretzels on a baking sheet, sprinkle with coarse sea salt, and bake for 12-15 minutes.
- Let the pretzels cool before serving.
