Ingredients

  • 500g mixed fresh fish (such as perch, trout, or pike), cleaned and cut into chunks
  • 300g mixed seafood (such as shrimp, mussels, and clams), cleaned
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 500ml fish or vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper. Sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Add the crushed tomatoes, fish or vegetable broth, and dried oregano to the pot. Season with salt and pepper. Bring the broth to a simmer.
  3. Gently add the mixed fish and seafood to the simmering broth. Cover the pot and let the stew cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and the seafood has opened.
  4. Once the fish and seafood are cooked, taste the broth and adjust the seasoning if needed. Serve the brodetto di pesce hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
