Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup rum
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small bowl, soak the raisins in rum for 15 minutes.
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in the sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract into the yeast mixture.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, kneading the dough until smooth and elastic.
- Drain the raisins and fold them into the dough along with the chopped walnuts.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the bread for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown.
- Let the bread cool before slicing and serving.
