Bulgarska Banitsa (bulgarian Banitsa)
Bulgarska Banitsa, also known as Bulgarian Banitsa, is a traditional savory pastry dish from the Balkan cuisine. It is made with layers of phyllo dough and a filling of eggs, cheese, and yogurt, creating a delicious and comforting meal or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 package of phyllo dough
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the yogurt, feta cheese, salt, and pepper.
- Brush a baking dish with melted butter.
- Layer 5 sheets of phyllo dough in the bottom of the baking dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
- Pour half of the egg and cheese mixture over the phyllo dough.
- Add another layer of 5 sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
- Pour the remaining egg and cheese mixture over the second layer of phyllo dough.
- Add a final layer of 5 sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
- Brush the top layer with the remaining melted butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
