Bulgogi Beef Stir-Fry (불고기)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, sesame oil, black pepper, and ginger to make the marinade.
  2. Add the sliced beef to the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until browned.
  5. Add the onion, carrot, and bell pepper to the skillet and continue stir-frying for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
