Burek with Cheese and Spinach (Burek sa Sirom i Spanaćem)

Ingredients

  • 1 package of phyllo dough
  • 1 1/2 cups of crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 cups of chopped spinach
  • 1/2 cup of melted butter
  • 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the crumbled feta cheese, chopped spinach, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Unroll the phyllo dough and place a sheet on a clean surface. Brush it with melted butter and oil mixture.
  4. Place another sheet of phyllo dough on top and brush with the butter and oil mixture. Repeat this process until you have 6 layers.
  5. Sprinkle half of the cheese and spinach mixture over the layered phyllo dough.
  6. Roll the layered phyllo dough into a log shape and place it in a greased baking dish.
  7. Repeat the layering process with the remaining phyllo dough and cheese and spinach mixture.
  8. Bake the burek in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
