Butter Masala Pancake, also known as Davangere Benne Masala Dosa, is a popular dish from Karnataka Cuisine. This savory pancake is made with a flavorful masala filling and is perfect for a delicious breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice flour
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup semolina
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 1/2 tsp ginger, grated
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 cup butter masala sauce
- Oil, for cooking
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine rice flour, all-purpose flour, semolina, salt, turmeric powder, and cumin seeds. Add water to make a smooth batter.
- In a separate bowl, mix together onion, tomatoes, green chilies, coriander leaves, ginger, and garam masala to make the masala filling.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and pour a ladleful of batter. Spread it in a circular motion to make a thin pancake.
- Drizzle some oil around the edges and cook until the bottom is golden brown.
- Spread a spoonful of butter masala sauce on the pancake and add a portion of the masala filling on one side.
- Fold the pancake over the filling to make a half-moon shape and cook for a few more minutes until crispy.
- Repeat with the remaining batter and filling.
- Serve the Butter Masala Pancakes hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
