Butter Rolls

Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk and water until warm (120°F to 130°F).
- Add the warm liquid to the dry ingredients and beat well.
- Stir in the softened butter, egg, and enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Punch the dough down and divide it into 12 portions.
- Shape each portion into a ball and place in a greased 9-inch square baking pan.
- Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the pan and cool on wire racks.
