Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the whole head of cabbage in a large pot of water for about 5 minutes, then carefully remove the leaves and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, cooked rice, chopped onion, egg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place a spoonful of the pork mixture onto each cabbage leaf, then roll them up and secure with toothpicks.
  4. In a separate pot, mix together the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, brown sugar, and lemon juice. Place the cabbage rolls in the pot, cover, and simmer for 1 hour.
  5. Remove the toothpicks and serve the cabbage rolls with the tomato sauce on top.
