Cabbage Roll Delight (Kopūstų sriuba su mėsa)
Kopūstų sriuba su mėsa, or Cabbage Roll Delight, is a traditional Lithuanian dish that combines the flavors of cabbage, meat, and vegetables in a hearty and comforting soup.
Ingredients
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 500g ground pork
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, grated
- 1 cup rice
- 1 can of tomato sauce
- 4 cups beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Boil the whole head of cabbage in a large pot of water for 5 minutes, then carefully remove the leaves and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix the ground pork, onion, carrots, rice, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll it up, tucking in the sides.
- In a separate pot, combine the tomato sauce and beef broth. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the cabbage rolls to the pot, cover, and simmer for 1 hour.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
