Cabbage Rolls With Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and blanch them in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside to cool.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll them up, tucking in the sides as you go.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Place the cabbage rolls seam side down in the pot.
  5. Pour the crushed tomatoes over the cabbage rolls. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
  6. Serve the cabbage rolls with the tomato sauce spooned over the top.
