Cakalang Fufu (spicy And Tangy Tuna Soup)
Cakalang Fufu is a traditional spicy and tangy tuna soup from the Manado cuisine in Indonesia. This flavorful dish is perfect for seafood lovers and those who enjoy a bit of heat in their meals.
Ingredients
- 500g fresh tuna, cut into chunks
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 3 shallots, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 red chilies, sliced
- 3 kaffir lime leaves
- 2 lemongrass stalks, bruised
- 1 inch galangal, sliced
- 1 turmeric leaf, torn
- 1 liter water
- Salt to taste
- Sugar to taste
- Lime juice from 2 limes
Instructions
- In a pot, bring the water to a boil. Add the tuna chunks and cook for 5 minutes. Remove the tuna and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the tomatoes, shallots, garlic, red chilies, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, galangal, and turmeric leaf. Cook for 10 minutes.
- Return the cooked tuna to the pot. Season with salt, sugar, and lime juice. Simmer for another 15 minutes.
- Adjust the seasoning to your taste. Serve the Cakalang Fufu hot with steamed rice.
