Ingredients

  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the cabbage leaves, trying to keep them whole, and blanch them in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside to cool.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, onion, garlic, cooked rice, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  4. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll them up, tucking in the sides as you go.
  5. Place the cabbage rolls in a large baking dish. In a separate bowl, mix the tomato sauce and beef broth, then pour over the cabbage rolls.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  7. Serve the canelons de col hot and enjoy!
