Canning Bbq Sauce

Ingredients

  • 8 cups tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp mustard powder
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the tomatoes, onions, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  3. Using an immersion blender, blend the sauce until smooth.
  4. Prepare your canning jars and lids according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  5. Ladle the hot BBQ sauce into the prepared jars, leaving 1/2 inch of headspace.
  6. Wipe the jar rims, place the lids on top, and screw on the bands until fingertip tight.
  7. Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes.
  8. Remove the jars from the water bath and let them cool completely before storing.
