Canning Bbq Sauce
Canning BBQ sauce is a great way to preserve the flavors of summer and enjoy delicious homemade sauce all year round.
Ingredients
- 8 cups tomatoes, chopped
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp mustard powder
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the tomatoes, onions, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Using an immersion blender, blend the sauce until smooth.
- Prepare your canning jars and lids according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Ladle the hot BBQ sauce into the prepared jars, leaving 1/2 inch of headspace.
- Wipe the jar rims, place the lids on top, and screw on the bands until fingertip tight.
- Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes.
- Remove the jars from the water bath and let them cool completely before storing.
