Cantonese Style BBQ Ribs (Costillas Estilo Cantonés a la Barbacoa)

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork ribs
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 1/2 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, garlic, five-spice powder, ginger, rice vinegar, and brown sugar to make the marinade.
  2. Place the pork ribs in a large resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over the ribs. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  4. Place the marinated ribs on a baking sheet and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  5. Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). Baste the ribs with the remaining marinade and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the ribs are caramelized.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the ribs rest for a few minutes. Sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving.
