Cantonese Style BBQ Ribs (Costillas Estilo Cantonés a la Barbacoa)
Costillas Estilo Cantonés a la Barbacoa, or Cantonese Style BBQ Ribs, are a delicious fusion dish that combines the flavors of Chinese and Latin American cuisine. These ribs are marinated in a savory and slightly sweet sauce, then slow-cooked to perfection.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs pork ribs
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp five-spice powder
- 1/2 tsp ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, garlic, five-spice powder, ginger, rice vinegar, and brown sugar to make the marinade.
- Place the pork ribs in a large resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over the ribs. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Place the marinated ribs on a baking sheet and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
- Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). Baste the ribs with the remaining marinade and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the ribs are caramelized.
- Remove from the oven and let the ribs rest for a few minutes. Sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving.
