Caramel Pudding (pudim Flan)
Caramel Pudding, also known as Pudim Flan, is a classic Portuguese dessert that is creamy, rich, and indulgent. This velvety smooth pudding is topped with a luscious caramel sauce, making it a perfect sweet treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 4 large eggs
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Cook over medium heat, swirling the pan occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and turns into a deep amber caramel. Pour the caramel into a 9-inch round baking dish, tilting the dish to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk the eggs until well combined. Add the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour the mixture over the hardened caramel in the baking dish.
- Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan. Fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the pudding is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- Remove the baking dish from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- To serve, run a knife around the edge of the pudding and invert it onto a serving platter. The caramel sauce will flow over the top of the pudding.
