Caramelized Onion And Bacon Tart

Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 6 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the pie crust in a tart pan and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.
  4. Add the butter to the skillet with the bacon fat. Add the sliced onions, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded Gruyère cheese over the bottom of the pie crust. Top with the caramelized onions and crispy bacon.
  6. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream. Pour the mixture over the onions and bacon in the pie crust.
  7. Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
  8. Let the tart cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
