Tarta de Plátano Caramelizado is a delicious dessert from Panamanian cuisine that combines the sweetness of caramelized plantains with a buttery crust. This indulgent treat is perfect for special occasions or as a sweet ending to a meal.
Ingredients
- 4 ripe plantains
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 pre-made pie crust
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel the plantains and slice them diagonally into 1/2-inch thick pieces.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar and cook, stirring constantly, until the sugar melts and turns golden brown.
- Add the plantains to the caramelized sugar and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are caramelized and tender. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and ground cinnamon.
- Place the pre-made pie crust in a pie dish and arrange the caramelized plantains on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
