Ingredients

  • 2 lbs lamb, cut into chunks
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 leeks, sliced
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 1 small turnip, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup pearl barley
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the lamb over medium heat.
  2. Add the onions and cook until softened.
  3. Add the potatoes, leeks, carrots, turnip, and pearl barley to the pot.
  4. Pour in enough water to cover the ingredients and add the bay leaf.
  5. Season with salt and pepper, then bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat and simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  7. Remove the bay leaf before serving.
