Celtic Knot Apple Pie

Ingredients
- 6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 package refrigerated pie crusts
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
- Line a 9-inch pie dish with one of the pie crusts. Pour the apple mixture into the crust.
- Unroll the second pie crust on top of the apple filling. Trim any excess crust and crimp the edges to seal the pie.
- Brush the top crust with the beaten egg.
- Using a sharp knife, cut a Celtic knot pattern into the top crust.
- Bake the pie for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Allow the pie to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
