Celtic Knot Pretzels

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse salt, for sprinkling

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.

  3. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a long rope.
  4. Form each rope into a Celtic knot shape and place them on a baking sheet.

  6. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds, then remove and place back on the baking sheet.
  7. Brush each pretzel with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  8. Bake at 450°F for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
