Ceviche De Mariscos (honduran Seafood Ceviche)
Ceviche de Mariscos is a popular Honduran seafood dish that is perfect for a refreshing and light meal. This dish is made by marinating a variety of fresh seafood in citrus juices, which "cooks" the seafood without using heat. The result is a flavorful and tangy seafood dish that is perfect for hot summer days.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh white fish, such as sea bass or snapper, diced
- 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 pound squid, cleaned and sliced into rings
- 1 cup lime juice
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- 2-3 jalapeños, seeded and diced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large glass or ceramic bowl, combine the diced fish, shrimp, and squid.
- Pour the lime juice and orange juice over the seafood, making sure it is completely covered. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- After the seafood has marinated, drain off most of the citrus juices, leaving just enough to keep the ceviche moist.
- Add the sliced red onion, diced bell pepper, tomato, cilantro, and jalapeños to the seafood. Season with salt and pepper to taste and gently toss to combine.
- Chill the ceviche for an additional 30 minutes before serving.
