Chak-Chak (Honey-Sesame Sweet)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and butter. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, sugar, and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Take small portions of the dough and roll them into thin ropes. Cut the ropes into small pieces.
  4. Fry the dough pieces in batches until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Place the fried dough pieces in a large bowl and pour the honey mixture over them. Toss to coat evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the coated dough pieces and toss again to evenly distribute the seeds.
  7. Transfer the coated dough to a serving platter and let it cool and harden before serving.
