ჩახოხბილი (Chakhokhbili) is a traditional Georgian dish made with chicken and a flavorful tomato-based sauce. This recipe adds a twist with some extra ingredients to create a Chakhokhbili Explosion!
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 tomatoes, diced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup white wine
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and cook until translucent.
- Add the chicken pieces and brown on all sides.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, bell pepper, and garlic.
- Pour in the white wine and season with salt and pepper.
- Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the chicken is cooked through, sprinkle with fresh cilantro before serving.
