Chamorro Beef Lumpia

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 20 lumpia wrappers
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the cabbage, carrots, green onions, and garlic to the skillet. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce and black pepper. Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.
  4. Place a spoonful of the beef filling onto a lumpia wrapper. Fold the sides over the filling and roll tightly.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the lumpia in batches until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the cooked lumpia and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with dipping sauce.
